New Plants for Doll Restaurant

Hey everyone, I hope you'are all doing well.

I realized that all the projects I do, are not ever really going to be 'finished'...not until I actually hand them over to my niece but for now they are all in my possession, because of the MH show we do on our YouTube channel... whenever I look at them I think, how can I make it better... well for the restaurant below it was adding more plants... so I made these for the restaurant and now I'm sharing it with you.

I used small clay pots I found at a gargage sale last year, 

some Christmas garland and play doh. First I painted the clay pots.

Then I grabbed a chunk of play doh and shaped into a ball...

Then I put the play doh inside the pot and that will hold the green plant.

I cut some of the leaves off the bottom so I can push it through the play doh easier.

After you have all your stems in, trim it a bit so it won't look so messy.

Looks so much better. 

Please send us scans of your paintings for our dollhouse and restaurant walls. We are not looking for anything doll related just art...could be self portraits, abstract, scenery etc...anything you like.

I am also thinking of changing the wallpaper but not sure if I should. I would actually love to remove the back bench and just add tables on that side of the wall, I love how it looks now, but after shooting a couple of episodes for the Skull Academy show on our YouTube channel :) I think it would be a lot easier to shoot the scenes if the dolls were sitting sideways. I don't know, maybe I'll just leave it. I have been trying to find some new wallpaper (aka giftwrap paper) I bought the gift bag below, because I liked how it matchs the fabric but I don't know if it will look better on video and I'm not really sold on it, tell me what you think, do you like it or should I keep looking.

How to Make a Doll Restaurant - Finished...almost

Hi, the restaurant is almost finished, I changed a few things around since the last post. After putting all the dolls in the restaurant seated at the tables, it was a bit crowded and hard to use the door. So I removed one of the tables and made a counter by the front door.

I found these shelves at Value Village and they were perfect. I sanded them and re-stained using the same stain I used on the floors, table and door. The shelves were in perfect condition but the colour was a little off, it was too red. After all this work on the restaurant, I wanted it to be perfect, or almost perfect is good enough for me.

 

 

 

 

All we need now is art for our walls, we want you, our viewers to be apart of our show 'Skull Academy'. How to Make a Doll Restaurant - The Furniture

The Furniture

The Chairs...
 I made the chairs our of cardboard and paper mache, but I didn't want to paper mache everything.

The Tables...
I made the patio tables with liqueur glasses I found at Value Village. I liked the stems, I thought they would be perfect for table legs.

And coasters for tabletops, see I'm not just about cardboard and paper mache. 

For the inside tables, I got some cardboard and wrapped wooden pieces around it, then stained the wood. Plus the toy blocks I found at a garage sale this past summer was used for the legs, I painted them silver.
I love how the tables turned out.

I will post more pictures of the finished restaurant tomorrow. I hope you don't mind all the postings, one after another, I should really post the pics as I go along, so I don't pile them up at the end... I kept putting it off, but I do want to start blogging on a more regular basis, at least three times a week would be perfect. I do have other projects on the go that I would love to share with you.

How to Make a Doll Restaurant - The Decor

Here is a few decorating touches I added to Lola's Bistro...

I have a vase full of twigs and they always come in handy. I painted them white and hung them on the side walls. The back wall is for art from my viewers. We are accepting art from all ages and our viewers will vote for their favourite. We will use your art to hang in restaurant and in the new dorm rooms.

 I love how they turned out.

 I wanted the lighting to be special. I found these two Christmas ornaments at Value Village, as soon as I saw them I knew they would be perfect. To secure the lighting (ornaments) I made a hole on the ceiling and ran the string through and glued a piece of wood over it.

I found these wood piece at a garage sale this past summer. I stained them and glued them to the wall then added the mirror over it.

The doorway on the left is the door to the kitchen that doesn't exist. I wanted somewhere for the serving staff to come out of, plus that is where they get the drinks and the bill etc... I wanted the space for tables and seating.

To cover the doorway to the fake kitchen, I used these silver ball garlands I got from dollar store.

I love how the doorway turned out. The silver curtain balances the lighting.

The Door...

Oops...time to change the blade...

Start gluing your popsicle sticks to the cardboard. I used hot glue...watch you fingers, hot glue is crazy hot... try following the same pattern on each side of door.

I glued a piece of plastic to mimic a window.

I Just finished the sign and address number.

The next post will be the final one, the furniture and the finished look.
